Getting there: There is a railway station in the terminals central hall, under Schiphol Plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Central Station approximately every 15 minutes. From here take tram 1, 2 or 5 and alight at Prinsengracht. Schiphol Travel Taxis are available from outside the arrivals hall and seat up to eight passengers; fares cost approximately 50 to the hotel. Private taxis to the city centre typically cost 40. Public buses run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. Bus numbers 197 and 370 run to Amsterdam city centre and Amsterdam Zuid. All prices subject to change.
Driving directions: From the airport, take the A4 in the direction of Amsterdam. Follow the A10 west in the direction of Centrum/Zaanstad/Leeuwarden. Take exit S106 for Osdorp/Overtoomse Veld and turn right at the traffic lights in the direction of Centrum. Continue straight on and after the bridge turn left at the first set of traffic lights. Follow Overtoom until reaching the T-junction and turn right. Stay in the left lane past the Park Hotel and turn left at the traffic lights onto Spiegelgracht. Drive over the bridge and turn left onto the Prinsengracht.
Getting around: Much of Amsterdam can be explored on foot although there is an excellent integrated metro, tram and bus service running throughout the city and surrounding area. Cycling is hugely popular in Amsterdam and is an excellent way to see the city. Taxi ranks are available at the central station. Driving is discouraged within the canal ring.
