Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS): Approximate driving time to Hotel de l’Europe is 25 minutes and distance is 20 kilometres (12.5 miles).
Getting there: There is a railway station in the terminal’s central hall, under Schiphol Plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Central Station approximately every 15 minutes. Shared Schiphol Travel Taxis are available from outside the arrivals hall and seat up to eight passengers; fares start at €19 per person. Private taxis to the hotel typically cost approximately €45. Public buses run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. Bus numbers 197 and 370 run to Amsterdam city centre and Amsterdam Zuid. All prices subject to change.
Driving directions: From Schiphol Airport, take highway A4 towards Amsterdam – A10 ring zuid. Upon reaching the A10 ring Amsterdam, follow the direction Oost, Zuid of Noord, and look for Exit S 112 (Duivendrecht). Take Exit S 112, turn left at the traffic lights and follow the direction for Centrum. After one kilometre, at the roundabout turn right at the sign for Centrum into the Wibautstraat, which becomes Weesperstraat. Follow this broad street for about three kilometres to a second roundabout. Follow the roundabout round and turn right after the white twin-tower church. Drive along the Waterlooplein then turn right after the bridge and follow the River Amstel. After 200 metres, turn right on the next bridge and cross the Amstel again. After 50 metres turn left over a small drawbridge, and turn left again. You are now in the Nieuwe Doelenstraat. After 100 metres, you will find the Hotel de l’Europe. The doorman will assist with parking.
Getting around: Much of Amsterdam can be explored on foot although there is an excellent integrated metro, tram and bus service running throughout the city and surrounding area. Cycling is hugely popular in Amsterdam and is an excellent way to see the city. Taxi ranks are available at the central station. Driving is discouraged within the canal ring.
